Hi friends 🌸
Today is Valentina’s dress rehearsal for her eighth year of dance.
I still remember the day I enrolled her. It was just months after my dad passed away.
We were all grieving, and I thought maybe giving her something to express herself through movement would help her process it. I never imagined it would become her thing.
But just this past week, I learned something that stopped me in my tracks.
My dad used to be a traditional dance teacher in Cambodia.
He never told me. My mom shared it with me as she watched Valentina enjoy dance so much.
I never saw that version of him.
But now, watching my daughter on stage… I feel like I do see him. In her rhythm. In her love for movement. In her joy.
It’s one of those moments where life folds in on itself and becomes something deeper than coincidence.
A quiet, beautiful full circle.
A healing I didn’t know I needed.
A story he never told, now living on stage, through her.
📝 Journal Prompt:
Have you ever discovered something about a parent or elder that helped you understand yourself or your child better? What came full circle in that moment?
Whether it’s a whisper from the past or a spotlight on the present, honor that connection today.
With love,
Bopha
