Hi friends 🌼
Today marks the first entry in my daily blog series In Bloom: Daily Reflections to Grow With.
Each day, I’ll share a small moment from life: a truth, a funny moment, or a whisper of wisdom and end with a journal prompt to help you reflect too.
Let’s begin with a little funny story.
Last night, I was helping my 13-year-old son put his room back together. After years of sharing with his little brother, he finally has a room to himself.

He was struggling to remove the curtains from the rod and asked,
“Mom, are you going to use this curtain again?”
I already knew what was coming.
I told him yes. We reuse them for home staging during renovations.
Then I asked, “Were you about to cut it off with scissors instead of unscrewing it?”
He was dead serious. “Yeah…”
It was such a funny parenting moment, and honestly, one of my favorites from this week.
I giggled inside. I’ve had that exact thought before, wanting to take the quickest, easiest route, even if it meant making more of a mess.
Instead of getting frustrated, I told him to breathe, take his time, and figure it out.
He did and the pride on his face when he finished was the best part.
He learned a lesson I’ve had to learn many times myself: shortcuts aren’t always the answer. Some things are worth doing right, even if they take longer.
What surprised me most was how much I needed that little parenting lesson, too.
I see younger versions of myself in my kids every day.
And more often now, instead of reacting with impatience, I respond with understanding.
Because I remember what it’s like to want the easy way out.
Sometimes, growth hides inside the most ordinary moments, like a curtain and a pair of scissors. Haha.
And in these quiet, funny situations, there’s always a deeper lesson waiting to be noticed.
📝 Journal Prompt:
What’s a funny moment when your child (or someone you know) tried to take the easy way out?
Did it make you laugh, sigh, or see a little bit of yourself in them?
Feel free to share your moment in the comments or keep it tucked in your journal.
Either way, I hope joy and a little humor finds you today. 💛
Until tomorrow,
Bopha
