Welcome to my garden.
I’m Bopha, a wife of 18 years, a mother of four wonderful children, and the youngest of a large family being the only one born in America. My name, Bopha, means “flower” in Cambodian, and just as a flower blooms and grows through the seasons, so have I. Over the last few years, I’ve experienced a journey of rediscovery, learning to see life through the lens of a garden — a space where seeds are planted, tended to, and allowed to thrive in their own time.
When I reflect on the different seasons of my life, I see them as parts of a garden in progress. Some areas are flourishing, full of vibrant colors and strong roots. Others have experienced storms, where growth was halted, and weeds threatened to overtake what I had planted. But each phase has been a part of my journey — the journey of becoming a mother, a wife, a daughter, and most importantly, of rediscovering myself.
The Meaning of Growth
Gardening has always been a passion of mine, but over the past year, it has become something more — it has become a mirror of my own life. Spending time in nature, surrounded by plants, soil, and the steady rhythm of the earth, has helped me find clarity in ways I didn’t expect. As a mother and wife, I’ve often been focused on nurturing others, helping my children grow and supporting my husband through our 20 years together. But in doing so, I had set aside my own needs, my own personal growth.
Just like in a garden, where some plants need to be pruned and cared for more diligently, I realized that I, too, needed to tend to myself. I needed time to reflect, to acknowledge the changes that motherhood, marriage, and caregiving had brought into my life. There were moments of joy, but also moments of loss, and for a long time, I didn’t give myself the space to truly feel and understand those changes. It wasn’t until I spent time alone in the garden that I began to recognize how much I had grown — and how much more room I still had to bloom.
Why Gardening?
You might wonder, why gardening? Why the focus on soil, plants, and seasons? For me, gardening is more than just a hobby. It is a reminder that life is full of cycles. There are times of abundance, where everything seems to be growing effortlessly, and there are times when nothing seems to take root, no matter how much care you give. In those moments, I’ve learned that patience is key — both in the garden and in life. You can’t rush growth. You can’t force a plant to bloom before it’s ready, just as you can’t rush through life’s challenges without giving yourself time to process and heal.
My Journey Back to Myself
In the last two years, I’ve been on a journey to rediscover who I am, apart from the roles I play in my family. I’ve learned that it’s okay to focus on myself, to nurture my own growth, and to allow myself the space to reflect and heal. The garden has been my sanctuary, a place where I can connect with nature and with myself, free from the noise of daily life. It has taught me lessons in patience, resilience, and the beauty of new beginnings.
Through this blog, I want to share those lessons with you — not just about gardening, but about life. Whether you’re a mother, a wife, a caregiver, or simply someone seeking personal growth, I hope my journey can inspire you to reflect on your own life. Just as flowers bloom in their own time, so too do we. It’s never too late to plant new seeds, tend to your garden, and watch yourself grow.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m excited to share my experiences, my stories, and my garden with you.
Let’s plant new seeds together. What area of your life do you feel is ready for growth? I’d love to hear from you in the comments — share your story and let’s grow together.

Love, B
